井上さや子さんが 自給自足の助けになっているお庭の写真を送ってくださいました。さや子さんより→ 「これは庭の小さな菜園写真です。ちょうど菊が終わり抜きかえたところで、半分土をならしています。手前から赤い水菜、フリルのレタスいろいろ、ブロッコリー、ネギなどです。サラダに入れた食べるお花、ナスタチュームは鉢植えでも楽しめます。今はこんな赤い実もたくさん。種？がかたいけれど、食べられます。こちらは庭にめんした母のラボです。冬は温室にして、寒さに弱い植物で満席。」

In my office recently, we had an aquarium installed. Fish will normally die if the water is not purified. So in order to keep the water clean some shellfish will be placed in the tank. They specialize in eating garbage and other unclean things.
In the marine world every creature seems to have its role to play. They work together to keep a clean and healthy environment. Unfortunately, humans don’t do this very much in our modern “civilization.”
We need to get back to caring about other people and the creatures that we share this planet with. 私のオフィスには最近、水槽を設置しました。お水をきれいにしていないと普通 水槽の中の魚は死んでしまいます。そこで水を清くたもつため貝(生きている)を入れます。その生き物はゴミを食べたり、汚いものをきれいにすることを専門にしています。海洋の世界でもそれぞれの生き物には役目があるようです。それらの生物は健康な環境とそこをきれいに保つために共に働いているのです。残念なことに人間はこのモダンな”文明”の中でこれをあまりしていないですね。 私たちはこの惑星をともに生きる生き物たちと私たちお互いが、気遣って生きることに立ち返る必要があります。(水槽にはたった一個の貝ですが、昼も夜もゴミを拾って 水底に溜まった食べ物やゴミを完璧に取り除くので〜びっくりです。)

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2014 – #MontyThePenguin イギリスのデパート；ジョン・ルイスのクリスマス月の広告、上品ゆっくりでイギリスの雰囲気が溢れていますね。Our headlong rush for increased wealth has degraded world’s ecosystems by approximately 60%. 「私たちの豊かさ故の無鉄砲な消費が世界の生態系の訳６０％を破壊してしまった」と今年の春のクラスで学んだり、政府はこれ以上ゴミになる消費を励ましたら良くないとか〜言いながら 私は昨日の午後後半は銀座のニッコー陶器店(サイトにないカタログ内に質が良くお値段がお手頃のあり)の買い物、銀座では５枚のお皿を購入ただけ〜 銀座は１９９０年代より質素でより良くなりました。

Japan doesn`t need any more economic or industrial “growth”. The only things that need to grow in Japan are happiness, community spirit and fruit & vegetables.
We need to concentrate on developing more happiness and a less stressful atmosphere. Japan is over industrialized. We need to see a shift back to rural areas.
More people need to start farming and become self sufficient. Importing food is costly and less reliable than home grown natural produce.
In order to make Japan a happier and more enjoyable place to live what would you like to do in the coming new year? 日本はこれ以上の工場産業の成長は必要ないです。日本で必要とされる成長は幸福、地域での活力、そして果物や野菜です。日本は幸福とストレスのより少ない社会にすることに焦点を当てる必要があります。もっと多くのひとが農場に留まり、自給自足をする必要があります。食料の輸入は値段も高く環境にも負担があり、各家庭で食料を調達できることは生活を安定させます。さて〜日本をもっと幸せで楽しい場所にするために来年の新しい年は、皆様は何をなされますか？ディビットより (思いは招く〜田舎について思っていたら〜今年の春に田舎に家と庭が奇跡的に手に入りました。無花果もキューウイフルーツも野菜もなんでも近所にあふれ、お隣さんからは薪ストーブの木の燃えるすばらしい香りがします。毎週マギとディビットは訪れますが、どんな大金を払っても美しい星空、空気、子供達が泳げる川を買うことはできません。)

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in America. New york city was so quiet on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day). However, on this black Friday it became quite noisy, because there was a big sale. The day is the cheapest shopping day of the year. Best Bat (appliance store) was opened in the very early morning like before dawn on Friday. There was a long line at the entrance of the store. H&M Nike, too. When those shoppers get tired of shopping they take some break at a Starbucks cafe. I think that Americans’ financial situation seems to be better than last year. Because I was able to see lots of people standing in a queue and carrying a lot of bags. なるほど〜竹内さん〜ありがとうございます。ニューヨークの粋な雰囲気でワクワクしますね。
さてさて〜皆様はどんな暮れのお買い物をされますか？ 最近の日本人は断捨離で、あまりガラクタを買わなくなってきたと思います。疲れた脚のための電気暖めソックスなんて、疲れて帰宅しととき脚に巻き付けて〜なんてめんどくさくないですか？あと顔だけあたためるスティーマもお部屋のどこに置きますか？水を入れてスイッチ入れるだけでもめんどくさい、お風呂したほうがよくないですか？電車の広告を見て思いました。販売会社さまに失礼ですが、販売し生活を成り立たせる方々の子供さんの将来にも深刻に関わること〜なぜならゆくゆくはあまり使われず地球の環境破壊になっているのです。人生に無駄も必要なのは当然ですが、すでに地球の生態系の６０％も破壊されてしまったのです。(これは今年の始めの英語クラスでやりましたね。) クリスマス販売で新製品を売り出しますが、お家の中にガラクタ増えて、それらを触っているだけで時間がなくなりますよね。あっ！これは竹内さんの英文の日本語訳ではありませんよ！！
